Ancient Egyptian Fashion Makes A Come-Back Part II! By Ntumba Mukendi

In part one of the Egyptian Fashion Makes a come-back, I highlighted the model of Puerto Rican origin was wearing an Egyptian influenced Givenchy dress on the cover of Elle magazine this past January.  I thought she just looked fabulous….until I saw Lupita in a very similar version of the dress.  Personally I prefer the way colors, golds and silvers look on Lupita’s chocolate skin.

Although Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar award for best supporting actress in the movie 12 Years a Slave, she has not been getting any major acting roles.  My theory is that her image is catergorized as “exotic”, ”slave” or ‘’maid’’ by Hollywood.  I never did like the idea that she won an award for a slave role…but that’s just me.

Look at all of this fabulousness!!!!!!!!
