Deputy Secretary General of the APC, Nasir El-Rufai joined Omoyele Sowore in a discussion about the 2013 Anambra State Governorship Elections and the Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC) organization of the election process. El-Rufai, confined to his hotel by the Nigerian State Security Service explained that according to his own election monitoring “INEC has a lot of work to do.  There are logistic issues,” he said. While in Anambra for the elections, El-Rufai said that he was “approached by men with AK47s” whom insisted that they were there to protect him. He also expressed that “the Governor of Anambra State told me that i shouldn’t be there because I am not from Anambra State.” Although forced into confinement, Rufai was able to experience the process and said that the police were on their best behavior and that Anambra State voters should be commended on their coming out.
