Valentine Fashion Picks By Ntumba Mukendi

TAste of Africa Valentine’s Day is traditionally not an African holiday.  Where do all the Africans go on Valentine’s Day?  Hey Africans, where you at?!!!!  A lot of them were at Panla’s Taste of Africa pre-Valentine’s party on Tuesday the 11th.

The Taste of Africa Event Series is geared towards celebrating Pan-African culture while highlighting and raising funds for organizations dedicated to supporting change and development in various parts of the world.  There are three favorite fashion picks from this party.

We’ll start with the award-winning singer/song-writer originally from Sierra Leone, multi-cultural artist Azania.

She found the secret to keeping warm when wearing African clothes in the winter.

Azania had on a sultry red velvet long dress that screamed out Africa for a classy valentine look.  Red was the theme color for the party and she was wearing her fashionable shade of red.

The next pick is what looks like a Lenin baby-doll shirt and high funky boots for a mash-up of an innocent and sexy valentine look.  LOVING THE BOOTS!

Fashion model, Marlene Vincent was spotted wearing ntumba.ntumba design Bridal Party wrap skirt with a matching head-wrap.  She was wearing hot pink which is also a shade in the red family and worked it for the valentine theme.  This is modernized traditional valentine look.  This was also a fabulous sneak-peek for ntumba.ntumba design Spring 2014 if I must say so myself, lol.

Fungai

Men will be men.  Fungai, Sahara Reporters, on the left and Ndaba Mandela, grandson of Nelson, Mandela, on the right went with a casual look.  I always said, if you continue to wear African medallions after the 80’s then it was not a fad for you.  Africa is truly close to your heart.
